Villa Croatia: A Contemporary Coastal Retreat Wins Southeast Europe’s BIG SEE Awards 2025
Updated: 1 day ago

We’re proud to share that Villa Croatia, a private residence designed by CCG Architects, has been awarded a BIG SEE Architecture Award 2025.
This international recognition celebrates the most original and innovative architectural achievements in Southeast Europe, and Villa CR has been recognised for its refined minimalism, strong connection to place, and environmentally responsive design.

A Mediterranean Retreat Rooted in Simplicity and Place
Located on a coastal site in Croatia, Villa CR was conceived as a contemporary retreat, offering calm, privacy, and immersion in the natural landscape. The design responds to its unique setting through a restrained material palette, passive design strategies, and a seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor living.
At CCG Architects, our vision for Villa CR was to create a home that feels effortless yet considered, where architecture serves as a quiet backdrop to the rhythms of Mediterranean life.
The project’s low, linear form hugs the terrain, with carefully framed views of the sea and shaded outdoor spaces that extend the living experience beyond the built envelope. Natural stone, crisp detailing, and a calm interior language define the villa’s timeless character.

International Recognition for a Context-Driven Design
The BIG SEE Awards, based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, recognise excellence in architecture, design, and creativity across the Southeast European region. Villa CR’s selection for the 2025 Architecture Award affirms our ongoing commitment to delivering projects that are both responsive and enduring, whether in Australia or abroad.
This recognition also reinforces the growing global appreciation for context-led, sustainable residential design and places Croatian contemporary architecture firmly in the international spotlight.
