Newcastle Interchange was successfully delivered as a major transport infrastructure project, establishing a fully integrated transport hub at the new terminus of the Newcastle rail line. The interchange now serves as the connection point between heavy rail services, the Newcastle Light Rail network, and Newcastle bus services.
It serves as the terminus of the Newcastle Light Rail line and an interchange point with Newcastle Buses services.
The Project Included:
Truncation of the heavy rail line to the west of Stewart Avenue, Wickham.
Construction of a fully accessible transport interchange to the west of Stewart Avenue, Wickham.
Construction of a new train stabling facility to the east of Hamilton Station (northern side).
Brand-new fully accessible pedestrian bridge over the rail corridor near Railway Street.
Staff and crewing facilities for NSW Trains, Sydney Trains and associated interchange staff
The new interchange includes the following key features to enhance customer experience:

Provision for future Light Rail
Kiss and ride’ and taxi bays
