The Newtown Station Accessibility Upgrade consists of a new centrally located concourse sitting above the existing island platform and incorporating a new booking office, lifts, stairs, ticket barriers and vending machines, new platform canopies and resurfacing of the platform allowing for level access to trains.

A new public walkway leads from King Street to the concourse and a secondary access to the station via Thomas Street, with a new stair and lift. A canopy runs the length of the walkway providing protection from the elements with an ‘interpretive wall’ visually representing the history of Newtown running alongside.
