In 2009 CCG was commissioned by Ku-ring-gai Council to design and document (DA, Construction Certificate & Tender Document services) their new works depot at 5 Suakin Street, Pymble.

The design brief was simply to maximise the use of the site (just over 13,000 sq.m of land area) to ensure the new facility will provide exacting requirements of the previous depot with better design and utilisation of the site through purpose built.

The office building achieved 4.5 star ABGR rating with passive and active principles incorporated into the design, such as northerly orientation for work areas, shading devices on western elevations mitigated heat gains; cross ventilation including operable windows and roller shutters to workshop areas.

The final design included the following:

  • 4 Storey Depot Administration Office including 2 levels of basement parking (80cars) and Change Rooms for 155 staff;

  • Mechanical Servicing Workshop (double volume space) at 1250 sqm;

  • Bulk Items Store (double volume space) at 1250 sqm;

  • 2 Storey Trade (Painter, Carpenter, Electrician, Plumbers, Welder, Sign Writers, Landscapers etc) Stores & Workshops at 1000 sqm;

  • Five Undercover on grade parking bays;

  • Raw Materials Bays;

  • Waste Holding Bays; and Truck Wash Bay.
